The Signature Homes ethos is all about creating your home, your way. As such, they're very flexible in their outlook. "We have a really broad offer," says Signature Homes Coromandel/Hauraki Managing Director Terence McHardy. "There's great entry-level homes for first-time owners, right up to very high-end packages. Clients get the chance to put their own spin on it. We want things to be easy and we really want to give people what they want."

Terence and fellow Managing Director Ngaire were attracted to a Signature Homes building franchise because the Signature brand is highly respected in the residential building world. They sees a close fit between their own high standards and those of Signature Homes. They are also passionate about building and they enjoy creating family homes most of all. "With Signature, we can build homes that people can be proud of – well built, well designed houses that will stand the test of time", says Ngaire.

They also wanted to be able to give their clients absolute peace of mind. "We want our clients informed of all aspects of the build before they totally commit," says Ngaire. "We don't want any nasty surprises for them. Our company takes the risk away. What we say is going to happen, is going to happen. We put all the cards on the table from the outset."

Clients have a range of options for their land purchase, house design and the build itself. They can choose from a variety of existing plans, changing anything at all to suit their preferences. They can work with Signature's designer to create an entirely unique plan from their own vision. They can even bring in their own architect or designer to collaborate with Signature Homes. Whatever method the client chooses, all homes come with Signature's comprehensive guarantees – "The best in the country."

Just prior to the commencement of construction, Terence and Ngaire introduce their clients to their Project Manager, Simon Russell. Simon is a 'local', and has a reputation in the area as a true professional who takes great pride in his work. Simon's position is a very important one to the whole project, as he is responsible for maintaining communication between all parties. Simon's thorough and methodical systems ensure every project is properly organised and supervised.

On site, the Signature team have gone to great lengths to ensure they're backed up by quality contractors. "We've got a really good team of builders and tradesmen out there who we've individually handpicked," says Terence. "We've gone with quality people who do a quality job – and people that our clients can approach and get on with as well".

Where possible Signature Homes use local architects, contractors and suppliers but they also have the benefit of access to a nationwide network of specialists through the Signature Homes franchise system. We choose our supply partners for their reputation for excellence within their respective fields.

Here are three handy tips to help us help you:

Consider your budget realistically before you get underway. Providing an accurate budget right from the start of the process helps to ensure you will get the best possible return from your investment.

We encourage you to define your design style. Create a folder with magazine articles and features of homes or rooms you like, include internal and external colours, fittings and fixtures, along with furniture ideas. This will be useful for all of the consultants who will be involved in your build.

Don't be afraid to tell us everything you have in mind for your new home. It's very important that we understand exactly what you want, particularly your 'must-haves'. If you don't tell us, you can be sure we'll be asking you lots of questions!
