About Us

Simon and Jodie Bixley moved to Nelson four years ago with their three children, immediately falling in love with the people and natural attractions of our region. Simon's professional life has been centred on the building industry; having worked on sites across Scotland, Wanaka, Christchurch and Nelson on and off for the past 18 years. Jodie offers a complimentary skill set. Her background is in marketing and management, and she's lead sales teams in both Sydney and London.

Both are truly passionate about the business they've formed. "Life's there to have fun with," says Simon, "and that's what we portray to our clients – providing a friendly, relaxed atmosphere for them to be involved with."

Simon and Jodie joined the Signature Homes brand so they could give their clients absolute peace of mind. "We want our clients informed of all aspects of the build before they totally commit," says Simon. "We don't want any nasty surprises for them. Our company takes the risk away. What we say is going to happen, is going to happen. We put all the cards on the table from the outset."

Since opening their doors, the couple have found huge satisfaction in their work; a feeling very much shared by their clients. "I absolutely love dealing with homes," says Simon. "People come in and I get to turn their dreams into reality."

Signature Homes is all about creating your home, your way. As such, they're very flexible in their outlook. "We have a really broad offer," says Simon. "There's a great entry-level home for first-time owners, right up to very high-end packages. Clients get the chance to put their own spin on it. We want things to be easy and we really want to get people what they want."

Clients have a range of options for their land purchase, house design and the build itself. They can choose from a variety of existing plans, changing anything at all to suit their preferences. They can work with in-house designers to create an entirely unique plan from their own vision. Or they can bring in their own architect or designer to collaborate with Signature Homes and create their ideal home. Whatever method the client chooses, all homes come with Signature's comprehensive guarantees – "The best in the country."

For Simon and Jodie, these guarantees give them the freedom to offer a service of which they will always be proud. But this is by no means the extent of what they provide. "Our strength is our ability to accurately access and solve our clients' individual building needs – creatively and in a cost and time-efficient manner," says Jodie. "We base our business on the principles of quality, service, value and innovation. Ultimately, we want the client to walk out feeling stress-free and happy, and to have the house they want."

In the office, the couple are ably assisted by the multi-talented Dominic, who comes from a logistics background. On site, they've gone to great lengths to ensure they're backed up by quality contractors. "We've got a really good team of builders and tradesmen out there who we've individually handpicked," says Simon. "We've gone with really good people who do a really good job – people that our clients can approach and get on with as well. All to provide a stress-free and hassle-free build."

Consider your budget realistically before you get underway. Providing an accurate budget right from the start of the process helps to ensure you will get the best possible return from your investment.

We encourage you to define your design style. Create a folder with magazine articles and features of homes or rooms you like, include internal and external colours, fittings and fixtures, along with furniture ideas. This will be useful for all of the consultants who will be involved in your build.

Don't be afraid to tell us everything you have in mind for your new home. It's very important that we understand exactly what you want, particularly your 'must-haves'. If you don't tell us, you can be sure we'll be asking you lots of questions!
