Signature Homes - Helping to build New Zealand's future
In October 2002, Signature Homes was appointed as the preferred contractor in a Ministry of Education initiative to significantly increase the number and quality of New Zealand pre-school facilities. Since that time, Signature Homes has built or renovated over 80 Early Childhood Centres, from Kaitaia to Invercargill.

In 2008, Signature Homes was re-appointed by the government as the Ministry's preferred contractor, confirmation that the Ministry were more than satisfied with the company's performance over the previous 6 years. The team put in place at Signature Homes specifically to look after the relationship with the Ministry of Education is going from strength to strength and has now grown to 6. Another milestone was reached recently when the company gained preferred contractor status for the building of schools, as well as Early Childhood Centres.

Already a contract has been won to build a Te Kura Kaupapa (Maori primary school) for children living in Northland's picturesque Matauri Bay, a very special project for the local Nga Puhi people. The school's purpose is to give children in the area the skills necessary to succeed in the wider community, while also giving them Maori language and cultural skills, and a sense of pride in their identity. The local community have taken a keen interest in the project and have been consulted with where possible to ensure that the school will meet their requirements. As an example of this, Matauri Bay children recently visited the Signature Homes Support Office in Auckland and contributed ideas for the decorative artwork that will be featured on a number of the school buildings. The artwork created was centred on themes that were familiar to the children, including local marine life and Maori designs – the idea being that the children will really feel at home once the school has opened.
