Making the shift from Auckland to Northland was the easy decision. Finding a building company in Northland who actually wanted to listen to us, proved to be much more difficult.
Finally we found Craig Dackers and Stephen Cross from Signature Homes. At last, a building company, who did want to listen, on who was prepared to take our aspirations and ideas and help us turn them into the home of our dreams. From ideas, to concept drawings, to final plans, was a voyage of discovery.
For us, communication during this critical stage, was key to the success of the project. Working with the people from Signature Homes and their suppliers was like working with lifelong friends, they worked, they listened and worked again, until we had the design for our dream home. They don't say "your home your way" for nothing.
The day construction started was the beginning of reality for both parties. We as the owner and Signature Homes as the construction company. Living onsite while our dream home is being constructed could be interoperated in two ways. An advantage or a nightmare ( depending on which side of the fence your are on).
For us, we saw the positives, in that we got to know the sub-contractors. We were able to form a relationship with them, we also got to see, first hand, the quality of the materials being used in the construction of our house and the quality of the workmanship being applied to the build process.
From the start of the construction to the completion of our house, the communication between us and Signature Homes was constant, almost daily, we were advised by the project manager, as to what state construction was at and what would be the next phase. Any questions raised were promptly responded to and answers supplied. Even to making some minor changes during the actual build. Nothing was a problem.
The construction of the house progressed through the planned stages with very little deviation from the build schedule supplied at the start. Completion and handover was before the indicated date from the original build plan.
Did we achieve what we had started to achieve? Without question. Signature Homes have built us our dream home, a home that has exceeded our expectations and aspirations, for quality, style and livability. Would we recommend the team from Signature Home? We sure would.
