What are benefits of the Early Childhood Centre Design and Build Scheme?
This Ministry of Education-sponsored scheme is expected to fill a need from the early childhood education sector for quality buildings at an affordable and up-front known cost, without the need for centres themselves to arrange for consultants and tradespeople on a project-by-project basis.
What does the Scheme involve?
A range of design concepts based on 'best practice' ECE centre solutions yet provide the flexibility to cater for each centre's special needs.
The appointment, after a comprehensive tender process, of Signature Homes as the Ministry's preferred contractor for the design and build of early childhood education centres nationwide.
Who can take advantage of the Scheme?
Anyone or any group with an interest in developing a quality ECE centre - including parents, whanau, hapu, iwi, community organisations and other parties. There is no restriction on who may participate in the Scheme.
Why was Signature Homes appointed as the Ministry of Education's preferred contractor?
Having developed design concepts based on best practice in ECE centres, the Ministry of Education called for tenders from suitable contractors to provide a nationwide design and build service. Signature Homes was appointed as the Ministry's preferred contractor because of their:
