For generations, the region of Tuscany in Italy has captured people's hearts and imaginations. Tuscany has become synonymous with a passion for living, a sense of style and taste and a whole way of life.

That's why we designed our exclusive Tuscany Collection of Homes to embody more than the timeless architecture of the region's elegant villas. We wanted to capture the essence of the Tuscan lifestyle.

The first challenge was to capture the feel. While Tuscany's villas have a substantial, permanent air you don't often find in New Zealand, they are also characterised by the openness and light of their spaces – grand entrances with generous foyers, living and dining areas opening out onto patios or courtyards and at the heart of it all, well laid-out kitchens flowing easily into dining and other adjacent rooms.

Then came the look – the high multiple rooflines, tall square chimneys, stately columns, solid timber exterior louvres, wrought iron balustrades and French doors.

Finally, we had to make it all work for the New Zealand lifestyle. So we created a second living area, made the kitchen more functional with a pantry and servery or bar, separated the toilet from the bathroom and added an ensuite and walk-in wardrobe to the master bedroom.
